August

Teresa saw both doctor and optician about her eye problem, but neither offered a diagnosis, and she has been referred to a specialist at Cheltenham General Hospital.  Very depressing for her.

Then towards the end of the month, she had other symptoms, which meant a return to the doctor, who diagnosed liver problems and further tests to be arranged at the hospital.

Juliet had two more riding courses.  They usually finish off with informal gymkhana and jumping competitions.   Although she hasn’t actually won any of these, she now has a number of rosettes, plus, on one of the courses, the prize for most helpful course member.

In a new departure this year, Juliet also went on a music course in Calne, near Chippenham, which specialised in chamber music.  Jay felt a bit out of place, since most of the others were older, had higher grades and were from Wales, but she enjoyed the music and it was good for her playing.

Helen was home for a few days, and we found a couple of local churches to for her to visit – at Stanway and Stanton.  Roger forgot to take the camera this time, so was unable to record the beauty and tranquillity of these two little villages.

[But he did later in the year – see Stanway and Stanton]

Roger continued to enjoy his bowls, and played in half a dozen more matches, gradually getting more used to the game and the atmosphere.
