March
On 6,
Helen home for the weekend: she’d been
looking forward to seeing Jay riding, but high winds unfortunately caused Jay’s
Saturday class to be cancelled.
We took Helen to look round the St Peter’s parish church in
Winchcombe. Among the notable features
are the splendid grotesque gargoyles, many of them carved, allegedly, as
caricatures of real people and sometimes known as the Winchcombe Worthies –
oddly enough a few weeks before I’d been asked in the library about the latter,
but hadn’t then known who they were.
Teresa sent for a mail-order hibiscus for her birthday on 31. We hadn’t expected that first it needed
potting and then there was a long wait for signs of life to appear. But she had some cut flowers to be going on
with.
On the actual day of the birthday, Jay played in a youth orchestra
concert at the Pittville Pump Room, the first formal concert she’s managed in
over a year of somewhat interrupted membership of the orchestra.
