August

Jay spent the first week of the month on an orchestra course at Beauchamp House.  She enjoyed the music but not the leisure activities.  Accommodation was in ‘bring-your-own’ tents.  On the final Saturday, there was a concert for parents – well played by the children and an interesting programme for the parents.

Birthdays for Roger and Helen this month:  Helen visited for a few days for the occasion.  Teresa managed to get a dedication played for Roger on Classic FM on the morning of his birthday.  She e-mailed during the morning, and within an hour we heard a very full dedication, and the requested piece of music – ‘From the Steppes of Central Asia’ by Borodin – which had been played at Jay’s Beauchamp concert the previous Saturday.  It may have helped, though we didn’t know beforehand, that Borodin was Classic FM’s composer of the week.

Entertainment for Helen was limited by Jay’s riding and Roger’s bowling commitments, but we did take in a morning at Sudeley Castle and another visit to the Stanway Fountain.
