February

This month saw the annual Pate’s Grammar School trivia quiz.  We entered with the same team as last year.  We left a bit unsure about our final placing, though we think that it was third.  Unusually, the winners were a student team, and we think another team of parents was second, possibly last year’s winners, but we’re not sure about that – it was all quite close.

Teresa had her final session with the ophthalmologist:  her sight was assessed as back to normal and she has been cleared to drive again.

Jay spent a week away in Austria on a school skiing trip.  She seemed to spend a lot of time falling over and came back laden with chocolate.

While she was away, Roger mowed the grass for the first time this year, and made the mistake of observing that the worst of the winter was over.  Almost immediately the long cold spell started, though fortunately without very much snow in Gloucestershire.

We also visited a couple of old churches near North Leach – at Coln St Dennis and Coln Rogers respectively – click here for our report.

At the end of the month, at the insistence of Jay, we went to a demonstration by the ‘horse-whisperer’, Monty Roberts, at Hartpury College near Gloucester.  It was held in an indoor training school, but with no heating, and Roger and Teresa got very cold despite extra sweaters and blankets.  Jay, dressed normally, was thoroughly fascinated and didn’t shiver once.
