July

Helen visited at the beginning of the month – her trip to a local church this time was to St Eadburgha’s, Broadway – see separate report.

Roger continued to play plenty of bowls:  competition matches continue in all weathers, and, so poor has been the summer, that he had to visit the bowls shop in Pershore to buy a full set of ‘wets’ – white rain-proof over-jacket and trousers – to keep dry.  They have been used several times already.

A new local attraction opened this summer, the 300 ft high Stanway fountain – the world’s highest gravity-fed water fountain.  We first saw it at the Stanway Fete on 10 July, though the heavens opened that afternoon as well, so we all got wet.  But we returned with a visitor later in the month, when only Jay got wet.
