June

Local trips during the month included Evesham Country park, which comprises a farm park, a shopping complex, among other things, and a narrow gauge railway, which we rode on.  We also went to Broadway to see St Eadburgha’s church – see our separate report.

A busy month for Roger at the bowls club.  He played in quite a few matches – mainly those for Seniors arranged in the day-time – and also entered several events in the club competition:  by the end of the month he had been knocked out of three of these and was surviving in two.  He also had a busy week doing bar duty – an obligatory roster for men members.

On 20 June, he was invited to join the Overbury team for an inter-club triples tournament in Pershore:  playing with two very strong players, he was surprised and delighted to get to the final, in which they narrowly won the trophy for Overbury.  Further success came later in the week when Roger and Teresa teamed up with another couple to win the bowls club Quiz Night.

Jay was busy at school, with the end-of-year exams dominating, including two GCSEs which they are taking early (French and German).  On the music front, her violin teacher had arranged a master class for most of her pupils with a London professor, which went reasonably well on the day, while her Saturday morning orchestra played in the Cheltenham Town Hall as part of the annual county music showcase.
