October

The search for a pony started in earnest, but without success.  We actually had one on trial for a week, and we thought it was going to be suitable.  However, Jay was never entirely confident about riding it (she was thrown off a couple of times) and the pony also had sweet-itch.  After discussions with the vet and the stable owner, we had to say no.  The search continues.

The rejected pony, with Jay

All this happened in Jay’s two week half-term break:  there was little time for anything else, though Teresa did take her to see a Harry Potter film.

Jay has started to make herself quite useful at the stables:  she goes to help out every Saturday morning and spent a whole day recently as a runner for the scores at a dressage competition.

Roger started the month with a bad back, which happens from time to time, but this was a more painful and protracted visitation than normal.  But, after about a fortnight, it eased off.  This, together with some knee problems and the very wet weather, meant his regular walking was interrupted for a while.  Teresa and Jay have been the most active, spending a week mucking-out the horse on trial, and continuing their regular cycle rides.
