February

A cold, dull month.  Jay visited for the weekend of 15-17, but, as we saw her off on the train back, she said she was not feeling too well.  And by the evening she had developed all the symptoms of flu – shortness of breath, temperature, sore throat.  The following evening Teresa went down with it and the night after that, Roger.  Jay bravely struggled on in Oxford on her own, refusing to see a doctor; Teresa went to the doctor because of the breathing difficulties, and was put on steroids and antibiotics.  Though spared the shortness of breath, Roger had to cancel his bowls that week and, unfortunately, we missed the annual bowls club dinner, scheduled for the Friday.

By the weekend of 29 February, we had recovered to welcome Helen home for a visit.

On a brighter note, some snowdrops we bought in 2002 near St Eadburgha’s church in Broadway finally decided to flower.  Because of Roger’s operation, we have not done much gardening since we have been here.  So these may not look much, but it’s a start.
