Festival of Steam

Sunday 1June 2008

Roger and Teresa walked across to the GWR on 1 June.  For the last two weekends it had been their Festival of Steam, and on the final day they had arranged a fly past by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The service from Toddington to Prestbury waits for departure

The latest locomotive on loan, from the National Railway Museum in York – the Lord Nelson

There was also a Routemaster bus from London

The North Gloucestershire Railway

We saw the narrow gauge railway which Teresa and Helen had ridden the week before

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flew past to the north …

… then to the south …

… then to the east …

They had flown across from the Cosford Air Show and the flight consisted of a Lancaster bomber flanked by a Spitfire and a Hurricane

… and finally north again
